In most states, property management is considered a regulated real estate activity. As a result, property management firms are often required to maintain a real estate broker license in every state where they manage property, even when the properties are owned by the company or an affiliated entity. To obtain and maintain that license, firms must designate a qualified licensed broker who is responsible for brokerage oversight and regulatory compliance.

Hiring and developing an internal broker can require years of experience, extensive education, ongoing continuing education, and successful completion of state licensing examinations. Gregory V. Stobart, CPM®

Greg has held senior leadership positions with some of the nation’s largest apartment management companies, including MG Properties, Fairfield Residential, Equity Residential, Management Support, and United Dominion Realty Trust.

Throughout his career, he has overseen regional operations, property management portfolios, and capital improvement programs across multiple states. His experience includes supervising portfolios exceeding 13,500 apartment homes, directing multimillion-dollar renovation projects, and leading teams responsible for operational performance, regulatory compliance, and resident satisfaction.

Today, Greg combines his extensive operational expertise with active broker licensure to help property management companies maintain compliance with state real estate regulations while focusing on growth and performance.

Mr. Stobart received a Bachelor of Science. in Real Estate – Property Manager from the University of Memphis in 1999 and a CPM designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management 2005.
